Filex Putais is The News Times Press South America/Caribbean bureau chief. Putais joined The Post in 1994 and has reported for the paper from more than 40 countries on six continents and served as bureau chief in Tokyo, Buenos Aires, New York, London and Berlin. From Miami, he has also covered global economics and the U.S. financial crisis. Putais graduated from Florida International University in 1990 and began his journalism career at the Miami Herald.
